Hope Firestone ran up the steps toward the owlery. It was pouring with rain and she was already soaked! Finally reaching the large, cold and messy room, with smelly owl droppings scattered across the floor, she took the envelope out from her now damp pocket and tried to wipe the patches of rain water away. She didn't have an owl so she crossed the room to the old, grumpy owls that students sometimes used. She'd always wanted her own owl but she couldn't afford a suitable one. She stopped in front of a black and brown creature with the name Claw on the name tag attached to its leg.
As she reached out to touch the lazy looking thing it bite her viciously.
"Ouch!" She cried holding her finger in her other hand. It throbbed painfully and she saw blood oozing out of the deep cut.She cursed under her breath, this was not her day.

Shadow had sent off a letter, he had been trying to contact John, but inside somehow he knew...John was no longer part of the living and he had refused Shadows pleesed to become one of the undead. now there was nothing of him, he was gone, deader then dead. he had disappeared and Shadow wouldn't be able to know if he spent his last few moments on earth in pain, in love or just sleepy....he wanted to know, but couldn't because John took off and feared the worst.
Eyes out in the night sky as rain poured down, he could smell the thick scent of a female running up stairs, her hair and clothes drenched as Shadow turned coldly to stare at her approuch the owl and get nipped by it.
The smell of blood was beatiful and strong to his nose, A flash of lightning struck through the sky and for a moment made everything light, Shadow could be seen, thn it was dark as all candals when out. his perfect eyes for the night watched the girl, he walked over to her in the dark and stold beside her, temptation as he could see her viens rushing, pumping blood in her body. but he held back and grabbed her hand gentilly bring it up to his lips and licked the blood, another flash of lighting threw through the sky.
"Owls have sharp beaks you know." he said lowering her hand slightly but didn't let go.

Hope jumped as she realised that she was not alone, someone had crept up beside her without her noticing. It was dark so she had to squint to make out who it was. It was a slitherin guy, she realised and as she screwed up her eyes also saw a prefect badge pined to his chest. Then, to her astonishment, he took her hand in his and lifted it to his mouth and... licked the blood away! Her first thought was... eew, there was a flash of lightning, then he spoke while lowering her hand, "Owls have sharp beaks you know."
She stood there looking shocked, this must just be some kind of joke! There was another flash of lightning and I saw his face, he was looking at her with an expression of... what was it? Longing? Hunger? Whatever it was she didn't like it, she needed to get away. So, being as casual as possible she said, "I have to find an owl, an owl that dosn't bite anyway," she glanced in the direction of the owl that had just caused this unwanted experiance, "So yeah I should, um, go and do that and... yeah, see you."
She turned around and emeadiatly fell over something lying on the floor.
Why me, she thought, why always me?

"I have to find an owl, an owl that dosn't bite anyway,"
Shadow listened as her heart started to beat hard, he always wondered why Humans heart never popped out of there thin skin when they were so loud.
"So yeah I should, um, go and do that and... yeah, see you."
The girl had slipped and Shadow bent down beside her taking her hand again,"here let me help you up." he stared ather with half amused half concerned eyes,"if you want...you my use my owl, he is queit smart and beak isn't queit as sharp as these ones but much faster and bette hunter i can promise you." he smiled at her.

"Here let me help you up" he said, pulling her to her feet,Hopes face went skarlet,"If you want... you can use my owl, he is quite smart and his beak is'nt quite as sharp as these ones but much faster and a better hunter I can promise you."
... Well what was she to say? She couldn't say no of course so, "Ok, thank you," she replyed politely.She didn't like this guy at all, she decided, but he was the only person who had actually noticed her and talked to her at Hogwarts (although she had hoped someone less... scary would). "Er, would you know how to get some light?" She asked uncomfortably.

Shadow nodded in the dark and helped her up kindly. he could hear her dull tone, she wasn't eally thankful her her crazy heart beats. she was scared. oh well a normal reaction.
"Er, would you know how to get some light?"
Shadow smiled taking out his wand he lit it and some of the further away candals lit, he didn't want any close to him.
"better?" he asked before turning his head up,
"Tippo!" he called and intantly a snowy white owl went over head and dipped down on his shoulder.
Shadow become awear her bleeding hand wass itll in his.

He lit the candles over at the other end of the room with a flick of his wand.
"Better?"
It was, she could now see his face properly in the dim light. She looked at her surroundings as he called his owl, Tippo was it's name, it wooshed down onto his shoulder, it's white feathers were beautiful in the candle light.
He looked down and she followed his gaze and found that her hand was still in his. She carfully pulled it away and whiped her hand on her jeans, the blood staining the blue denem, but she didn't care.
She tryed to think of what to say next and realised she didn't even know his name.
"Um...I'm sorry," She said extending her clean hand, "I'm Hope Firestone... nice to meet you."
