Jax was glad the plant was dangerous- more entertaining that way. He could only handle so many boring flowers. He walked up to the front and donned the gloves. They stuck to his fingers tightly.
He had to borrow another student's scissors before cutting. Once that was done, he took the yellow flower to his table and poked at it. He was sort of smashing it a bit, so he decided to stop so that he'd have enough left to disect.

Miss Mitchell smiled encouragingly at Jax. "that's it" she grinned. "put your gloves on, though, yep?" Turning to the board, she affixed a few picures in the only remaining space: "Now, look up a moment please!" Ethel called. I'd like you to take a quick look at these diagrams. Obviously the middle one is just a photo of the flower, and the bottom one shows a dissection. This diagram is quite simple and you can see the seaparated petals. I'd like you to dissect the first flower according to the bottom diagram. There are craft knives in the box on my desk, or if you're feeling daring you could try using your wand with a severing charm. Those in 4th year should at lest try with their wands. It's not dire if you slice it up a lot, there are plenty more flowers, just come and get one." Miss Mitchell turned to the board for a second. "the top one might be harder. Try that towards the end of the lesson if you're feeling confident. the drawing is good, you'll have to go really carefully with that one." had she spoken for too long? ah well. "good luck people!" she called. "off you go"

Ava went to the front of the classroom to get a pair of gloves from the teacher's desk. She put them on and with her scissors she cut a yellow flower and took it to her table.
She then followed the professor's instruction and decided that she would use a craft knive because she felt more confident doing it that way. When she arrived back at her table Ava looked attently at the picture on the board and started dissecting the flower. When she was finished, she looked at the flower and was quite happy with the result though it wasn't perfect. She then looked around her to see how here clasmates were doing.

Leeda quickly placed her gloves on her hands and walked eagerly up to the front of the room. She carefully cut off a flower and carried it delicately back to her table, where she placed it down and waited for further instruction. She rolled her eyes at Jax, who was playing with his.
Now, look up a moment please... I'd like you to dissect the first flower according to the bottom diagram. Those in 4th year should at lest try with their wands. It's not dire if you slice it up a lot, there are plenty more flowers...off you go!
Leeda smiled at her energetic professor and took out her wand. Being in fourth year, she knew she was supposed to use it. Besides, she'd studied severing charms already. Although she'd only practiced once, she thought it would be manageable. She studied the bottom diagram carefully before setting off. Then, she concentrated and began the tedious process of dissecting the flower. It took awhile, but she got it finally. She stood back. Not too bad. She gazed at it a moment before deciding to give it another go. She got a new flower and started again, this time a bit faster.

Miss Mitchell walked amoung her students (energetically!?! XD) , encouraging them and helping. "that's really good, Ava, Have a go at one more and then try the bottom picture... Wow, Leeda. That's really impressive. have a shot at the bottom one, yeah?" Ethel smiled inwardly. Things were going really well, she hoped they wouldn't be too squeamish about what was to come...
"okay, everyone have a shot at the bottom one now - time's getting on and there's something else i need to show you." Ethel called to everyone.

Miss Mitchell laughed. everything was going really well. she walked amoung her students once more, encouraging and directing. everyone was progressing so much, but she didn't have much time now - she had to be quick. Turning to her class, she called everyone over to her desk. "okay everyone, we need to stop for now. You've all done a seriously good job - these are nicely done." she looked more serious. "i can't let you keep any of this stuff, and i want to show you why. this is... a rat. don't get too emotional, i found him attempting to nibble at the pumpkins for the Hallowe'en feast. This," she said grimly, holding up a phial, "is a press of the juice of roots from... aconitum vulparia, i believe," Miss Mitchell motioned to her class to gather round. she dumped the rat on her large desk, and poured a little of the juice into a small dish. the rat sniffed at it, and squealed, backing away from the tray. "so as we can see, the rat does not believe this to be edible. he's right." Miss Mitchell pulled a needleless syringe from her desk drawer, and filled it with the innocuous looking liquid. Picking up the rat, she poked the syringe between it's jaws, and squirted. "stand back a bit, class, he won't enjoy this too much. aconite does not affect intelligence or concioussness, so he knows everything, yeah? Don't poke him or scare him, please..." Ethel called. she put the rat in the centre of her desk, and waited for the first symptoms (frozen limbs, shaking, vomiting, choking) to appear. ooc: your charrie's reactions as the symptoms appear, please! (they don't have to be in a particular order, but good contiuity is requested, so if one person says he's vomiting, don't then say that he hasn't in the subsequent posts, yep?
