Divination, Lesson 1 « Thread Started on Jun 24, 2008, 12:29am »
Leona looked down at the class of fourth years assembled before her. They were unruly bunch for sure, but she could already see that some of them shone the light of the gift. Leona knew instantly that this was going to be a good semester.
"Welcome to divination," she began with a wave of her hand that closed the trap door announcing that class had begun. She gave a tired smile and took a deep breath. "As you know Divination is a very complicated and vague course of study, and only with the training of your inner eye can you be able to discern between authentic visions and images created from a wandering mind." Leona's tone was stern, trying her utmost to get her students to take this course seriously.
"There has been much debate among professors in the field as to whether divination is more of an art than a science. I found that the difference between the two comes from who you ask, specifically, I mention centaurs - however, they're not the subject of this lecture," Leona paused to adjust her seating on the pillow before waving her left hand over her crystal ball. It began to glow a bright white.
"Back to my point...Like many things in life divination requires a balance to work effectively. A harmonious karma, without which we'd be doomed to linger in the dark void of our minds." Leona pointed her wand at the cabinet next to her and the doors opened. Composition books slowly glided from the shelves and on to the students laps.
"I have no doubt that many of you consider this to be an easy class. I know that several of you expect to fly from this course with perfects marks. In fact, many of you will, but it won't be because it was easy. When taught properly, divination is very hard to fake....Oh but I'm getting a head of myself; many of you don't even know what you'll be faking." Leona laughed light heartedly. Leona looked across at her students taking in their expressions.
"What you have in your laps, are empty composition books -yes you will be keeping a diary. A dream diary to be specific. Every night when you have a dream I expect you to record it in your journal. I want you to record what happened in the dream, who was in it -specifics galore! I also want you to interpret what you think your dream was trying to tell you. Is it sending a you message, foreboding or otherwise?"

Brandi listened, interested in what Professor Peppercorn was saying. A dream diary? Why she hadn't keep a diary in years, in fact she never recalled ever even finishing a whole page of her thoughts on paper. Oh well, sounded simple enough, now only if she could remember her dreams... That would be the challenge. Usually she just woke up, though there was always a reaccuring dream about pirates.
Brandi raised her hand, "Professor, what if you can't remember your dream?"
I sat there listing i was fasinated a dream diary that sounds so easy i can always remeber my dreams the hard part would be interpriting them the girl beside me put up here hand and said "what if we cant remeber our dreams" i turnd back to my teacher whaiting for her to reply
Sarah found herself smiling at the idea of recording her own dreams. It sounded quiet fun. When she heard the girls question she found herself agreeing. There was some nights in which she couldn't remember her own dreams.
Dream diaries. Kit remembered her mother keeping one. She remembered looking through it once and thinking it very strange. Possibly because it had no symbolism to her and would mean things only to her mum. Shrugging, she flipped through the pages, imagining the dreams she would write down. The only recent dream she could remember at the time was about giant cats. She sort of hoped she would have more of those, however, despite how hard they could be to interpret. The question had also piqued her interest, so she closed the diary and waited for the answer.
Leona looked up at the student. "Yes, well sometimes that may happen. So it's best to write it down as soon as you wake up. Try to focus on it, and slowly you'll recover more bits of information vital to the dream," Leo said knowing full well how many times she had woken up from a Dream to have forgotten said contents of the dream. Leona stood up and walked around the class. "So where there any other questions?"
